Pledge to Vote 'No' on the next library levy until such time as they pull 'Drag Queen Story Hour for Children' from being presented at the Ft. Vancouver Library District. Drag Queen Story Hour is exactly that, a fully dressed drag queen is paid to read in the public library gender confusing books to a target audience of 3 - 8 year olds. It is never in the best interests of 3 year olds to question their gender and that is exactly what DQSH does. The library board meetings are open to the public again every 3rd Monday @ 6PM (check their website for location, usually posted the week before). You can always write comments to the board each month at trustees@fvrl.org. We ask that you be respectful. We try to push back firmly, but also as lovingly as possible. Recent studies show 40% of gender confused adolescents seriously questioning their gender attempt suicide. Some believe if we are more affirming of the gender confused this alarming rate of suicide will decrease, however, that is not born in fact: In the gender affirming country of Sweden (The Cohort Study 2010-2014) showed the same higher rate of suicide in gender confused patients as compared to the US at the time proving that affirming the gender confused will not reduce their much higher rate of suicide. Why does our library want to lead a child down this path as that is exactly what DQSH does, it's designed to have children question their own and others gender's. We were largely responsible for getting Referendum 90 on the ballot in 2020 only to see it fail due to the Attorney General's poorly written wording of the referendum designed to confuse voters. Still 1.5 million voters rejected it even though we were outspent $10 to $1 by Planned Parenthood. The fight is not over. We broke the state record for signatures for a referendum all during a strong Covid ban on gathering. 266,000 signatures were gathered for Referendum 90 even during a pandemic showing how strongly parents are opposed to CSE. Please consider attending school board meetings to let them know Parents are the Primary Stakeholder's in their Children's Lives and Education. See your school districts poor % of students meeting standards in your district (Per OSPI's website under 'Report Card') due to more and more class time spent on CSE and social engineering lessons such as 'Social Emotional Learning' and 'Diversity, Equity and Inclusion' (which among other things causes children to question their gender) and less class time on academics (English, Math and Science). Note: there is a more family friendly & factual Comprehensive Sex Ed curriculum than Planned Parenthood's FLASH called 'Check the Facts' which meets the requirement for CSE in the state of Washington and is currently in use in 31 school districts in California. This is by far a better option.
